Health & care
Bring clinical insight and technical curiosity together to explore better health systems and useful tools for care teams.
Human expertise, alwaysAn AI lab taking shape in Kenya—where learning, mentorship and applied research meet real-world problems.
What could we build if more people had the skills, support and space to explore AI?
Afya Titans is our answer in progress: a Kenyan home for curious learners, thoughtful researchers and experienced mentors to work on problems that matter.
Medicine is one starting point. The ambition reaches further—into classrooms, local businesses, Kenyan languages and the next generation of builders.
Meet our areas of focusMake knowledge
more accessible.
Turn understanding
into something useful.
Grow people.
Grow possibility.
The strongest ideas often live between disciplines. We’re building around four connected areas, with room for new questions.
Bring clinical insight and technical curiosity together to explore better health systems and useful tools for care teams.
Human expertise, alwaysMake AI understandable and useful. Build learning experiences that open doors, support educators and grow practical skills.
More people, more possibilityConnect emerging builders with people who have walked the path. Learn through projects, feedback and a community that grows together.
Learn it. Build it. Pass it on.Explore Kenyan languages, everyday enterprise and engineering challenges—starting with the people closest to each problem.
Local knowledge is an advantageTechnology is the tool.
People are the point.
Starting points for future collaboration.
These are project concepts, shaped by real needs—not launched products.
Explore tools that help care teams organise appointments, navigate administrative workflows and make information easier to use.
Our proposed first learning programme starts with foundations, moves into hands-on practice, and grows through mentorship.
PROGRAMME IN DEVELOPMENTUnderstand AI, develop digital fluency, learn to ask better questions and check the answers.
FOUNDATIONS & CONFIDENCEExplore practical AI workflows or a technical route with coding, data and projects that have a clear purpose.
APPLIED PRACTICE & FEEDBACKWork on team projects, build a portfolio, learn from practitioners and eventually help someone else begin.
MENTORSHIP & NEXT STEPSThe youth pathway is one part of the wider lab vision. Programme dates, eligibility, support and delivery arrangements will be shared when confirmed.
A strong lab is built around people and useful work. Infrastructure should grow with the need.
Shape the founding network, project questions, mentorship and delivery partnerships.
Develop the pilot around shared spaces, supervised tools and accessible computing.
Expand the lab and consider dedicated infrastructure as partnerships, evidence and demand grow.
There’s more than one way to help build what comes next.
We’re at the beginning. Expressions of interest help shape the lab; they don’t guarantee programme places, funding or employment.
Afya Titans is an initiative in development to build an AI lab in Kenya. The vision brings education, mentorship, practical projects and applied research together around real local needs.
Medicine is an important part of the vision, alongside education, mentorship, Kenyan languages, enterprise and other locally relevant problems. Each project will need suitable domain expertise and a clear purpose.
The proposed introductory learning pathway is designed to welcome beginners. Learners would build foundations before moving toward practical AI use or a more technical route. Requirements will be published for each programme.
We are gathering interest while programme arrangements, delivery partners and resources are developed. Joining the interest list is not an application or an offer of a place. Eligibility, schedules and any available support will be shared before recruitment opens.
We welcome expressions of interest in mentoring, teaching, research supervision, project briefs, equipment or space, and supervised work experience. Each collaboration would have an agreed scope and responsibilities.
A dedicated facility is part of the longer-term ambition. The proposed starting approach uses shared learning spaces and computing resources, with infrastructure growing as the work, partnerships and demand develop.
Let’s make
possibility real.
